The Whistle Stop Café, the beloved local breakfast joint on the corner of Sixth and Greene streets, closed last year. Soon, it will be back in business.


“I found out on a Friday that the owner was pursuing other interests and that I had till the end of the day Saturday to get whatever I could from the place,” says Barry Hager, who managed and cooked at the Whistle Stop alongside waitress Tammy Salter. “It was a real shame, because I know a lot of people who did not expect it to close and who missed getting their breakfast on the way to work.”
